When we got Pecan the man told us she was a dark cornish bantam. I have looked at pictures of the chicks and she looks different. I have no clue as to what she could be.
We also thought she was about 2 weeks old, which would make Pecan almost 3 weeks now. Is that right? She looks younger than that to me. Anyways, she is a cute little thing and very friendly.
Here is Pecan

While looking up pictures of black australorp chicks I saw some barred rock chick pictures that look alot like Pecan. Do you think that maybe that could be a possibility also? I know in a few weeks i'll know better. I am doubting the dark cornish bantam, and my husband really liked them too. Oh well.

Are you sure he didn't say Dark Cochin Bantam? I spy some fluff on those legs, and this chick sure looks exactly like my black (or mottled) cochin banties. The feathering on the leg tends to run the gammut with non-show quality birds. Just a thought -it's a cutie nevertheless!

Oh my goodness, I never even noticed the fuzz on her legs.

I think it makes since because I remember commenting on a cochin bantam he had, but I can't remember now what kind it was. Who knows, he had so many different types of birds there. I just asked my husband and he also said that we were told dark cornish bantam.
She (or he) is my two oldest girls and I don't suppose they really care what she turns out to be. Me on the other hand, I can't wait to see how she turns out. Thaks!

Thanks so much everyone for helping me figure this out. I know i'm new to all this but i'm glad to know that i'm not crazy to disagree with the man we got them from who breeds them. Eventhough she is not a dark cornish I really like the way cochins look so i'm happy Pecan has at least some cochin in her.
Birdlover, I took the picture yesterday morning and we picked up the birds this past Monday.
