Anyone have pics of dark cornish chicks, around the 3-6 week age and older? I ordered one with my MM order and I can't tell which one is the DC compared to some of the EE's. They all have the brown/black feathers coming in! There is one who looks the most different from the others, and her beak has a reddish brown color to the end. Thanks!

Do you have pics? I don't have dark cornish, but they're quite easy to tell apart from McMurray EEs.

Pretty sure that upon further research and inspection, I think one of the ladies I went in on the order with got my Dark Cornish. All 4 birds I have with any kind of brown feathering all have green/grey legs. That is a sign of an EE isn't it? The Dark cornish in the Mcmurray website have yellow legs. Here are pics of the birds just in case, because I am definitely not good at identifying and could be way off the mark. These chicks are about 4 1/2 weeks old.

I have two that look like this, and I am fairly certain they are EEer's.

This one was the original contender for the Dark Cornish.

This one was runner up.

And just for reference, this is what my brother wants to end up with:

The leg color is wrong on all three, none of those look Cornish to me. A Dark Cornish should have yellow legs. The feathering should be reddish brown or black-- no gold, sometimes the ends of the feathers will have whitish/light tips but this goes away with the next molt, juvie hen feathers should have a hint/partial lacing. I can get some pics of my youngsters tonight.

I'm almost done hatching for the year--I could send you some eggs a little later in the month if you would like.

Pics would be great so that I can forward them on to the lady I split the order with. If she can identify which one is the cornish I will trade with her, as I am sure she would rather have her EEer (they are very different chickens after all

). Thank you so much for the help!

When you say you can "send me eggs" does that mean "live" eggs that I could then incubate? I don't think I can do that because I don't have an incubation set-up (and I don't think the Doting Husband is willing to be that doting so soon). Just curious/interested....for the furture;)

Maybe hard to tell now, but it would have started out as a yellow chick with dark chipmunk stripes.
ETA: None of the pictured are the dark cornish.

None of those are Dark Cornish, but really you should not hope for your Cornish to look like those pics - Those illustrations are done up to the APA standard, and hatcheries are FAR from that. At best you'll get a skinny sad looking bird with a medium chest. Cornish like those illustrations are only found through breeders who focus on that breed and its qualities.

Thanks everyone for their info, and confirming what I suspected. I have emailed the other person I ordered with to see if she can identify the DC in her brood so we can switch. I used the information you all gave me to help her with identification.
