Please not, it is later on in the season right now and the eggs are a little lighter.

Mine, a few do reach the 7 scale, but right now, they're on the 4-5 scale. I'm in Kansas.
And if I remember correctly, eggs hitting the 9 scale is considered a fault and not a standard (as told to me by a few breeders - please jump in and let me know if I'm wrong).

I guess you can eyeball my eggs in the sale section if you wanted, but they're pretty light this time of year. My pullets from last year are laying and they're on the 6, some even at the 7 scale right now (of course, silly me, I never have a camera OR an egg with me at the same time ever).

I would look at the blue Marans... I saw some for sale and they are NICE and dark

I have both the Black copper marans and the Blue marans now looking to improve my egg color on both. I have got very dark eggs too but most of mine are 4-6 want darker.

I doubt that a nine would be considered a fault...especially since there is no APA standard for Black Copper Marans. Those hens that lay a nine are few and far between tho.

9's are not a fault, they're just usually found in pullets who just began their cycle, which really should be ignored because after that beginning, they'll never be that dark again.

There are indeed some lines that the darkness sticks around for a very long time, that's infact what the quality is all about - But it is pretty rare to find eggs that go to a 9 then taper to an 8 and never down to a 7. Most decent Marans eggs range from 6-7, and in a lot of batches you will of course find one close to an 8.

Mine are all around 7, a couple being 8's and of course there are a few 6's, but I don't sell yet - And am on the West Coast.

Oh alright. There was something like that that was explained with pullets.

I know my eggs are a 9 from time to time, BUT I have seen people with really dark eggs that just blow my mind away.
Mine can range though, none ever look the same.

I'm wondering if people save eggs from the same hen or if their hens lay such uniform eggs.
I know some of my hens have laid slightly lighter eggs (not light, just lighter than some of the eggs)
There are a few people on here with night dark eggs, like the gal with the WHeatens, and the other gal (or guy lol) with the Blues that came from BCMs (instead of CMs)

Anywho, hope ya find what ya want. I guess mine are dark, but I never think my birds are good enough - I just think they could always be improved lol

Here are some of the eggs we are getting from ours

We have an auction going on ebay as well but the pic isn't very good
