I noticed a hen that had some dark, slimy/shiny poop yesterday. She also has a little bit of mess on her bottom. Since it's Sunday, the veterinarians are not open to take a stool sample to.
About 2 months ago, we dewormed for 3 days in a row with fenbendazole, and previously have dewormed about every 2 months rotating with pyrantel and single-day fenbendazole. We were going to deworm with Ivermectin this weekend, but now I think we need to address this hen first before possibly upsetting her system with dewormer.
My daughter is taking yogurt out to the coop as I am typing.
I do have Marquis (ponazuril) on hand. Do you think I should treat with Marquis as a precaution in case it's coccidia? If so, what is the dosage for a small/medium-sized hen (she is an Ameraucana, and the smallest of our 3).
Any other thoughts for today while we wait for a vet to be open tomorrow?
Thanks,
Toni
