Ok, I seen a comment in another thread, talking about food and they said that the Dumor food makes their chickens poop a lot more. This got me curious. Ive been feeding mine Dumor and have not really noticed it. So I switched to the Purina Heartland is it?.. just because that's what the feed store I was at happened to have. Been feeding them that, and I have not really noticed much difference between the quantity or quality of their Chicken Nuggets.

From what I have seen, the feed really does not affect it all that much. What DOES affect it now is of course how much you give them and when. Later in the day, they are going to leave you a lot more to clean up come morning time. Giving them food right before bed is setting yourself up for Lincoln Log Central the next morning. Letting them free range, seems to decrease their poop a bit, or it's firmer / more shaped and less gloppy sloppy. Also after a good days free ranging, I notice that they eat less of the pellets as well, seemingly haven filled up a bit on god only knows what they rooted up and in. I have actually experimented with this, feed them a big fat meal in the morning, then let them free range, OR let them out in the morning, run around doing their chickie thing, THEN a bowl of food later in the day. The latter method, they eat less of my food, and give firmer smaller nuggets.

What have been your observations? For those who look at things like this?
Thank you
Aaron

I have started the fermented feed the last probably 2 months. I used a locally milled mash. I noticed since i started that, they have more solid poos. But since its getting warmer and the bugs are out. When they free range, they eat barely any of my food and their poos are even larger. Like a giant dog poo. Expecially my roosters lol. Its crazy, but they are having large solid poos and barely eatting any of my food. Free range is the way to go.
On a side note, since spring kicked in, the hens yolks are nice and orange again and the shells are much thicker.
