Day 1 of Fowl Pox? (pic attached)

My sick hen who has been dealing with impacted then now sour crop since Mon developed white spots all over her face over night. The vet thinks it looks like fowl pox. What do you think?

Since she also has sour crop I thought it was the fungal infection/plaque spreading like I've read can happen in the mouth and occasionally face.

It could be early spots of fowl pox. Those usually turn tan to brown in time. Fungus on the skin (favus) would be something to wait and see to rule out. If it is fowl pox, that is a virus that usually will run it’s course over a month or so. There is no treatment, except making sure that they eat and drink, and to not disturb the scabs. If one chicken has it, there usually are others affected. Do you have mosquitoes that are active at this time? Here is some reading:

If the spots do not become tan or brown, then I would treat for favus, a fungal infection with miconazole cream applied daily. Here is what a very bad case of favus looks like with chaulky white material on face, combs, wattles:

Get fowl pox pills put him in a quarantine cage put a mosquito net over it it spreads through mosquito bites give him one pill daily for about of week should fall off if it doesn't but it turns black thats good u can push it off gently if it don't pop of leave at and continue meditation

Fowl pox does have a cure u can go to your local chicken feed store I garentied they have it if not it can be ordered online

We never figured out what the white spots were. The necropsy helped us determine the cause of death. But they said that they'd have to send in a lab sample for the face lesions which would be $300. At that point since she had already succumbed from the EYP, we decided it wasn't necessary.
