I candled last night, chicken eggs on day 10 in my incubator. 19 of the eggs are med to dark brown. 3 are white. Sturdy shells.
1 I could see the blood line (light brown), tossed it. after cracking it , found out it was a very early death. Which we had an Idea that was the case for quite awhile.
all the white ones have chicks/embryos in there and we think we are OK with them.
The brown ones all we can see is the air sac's. Is there any thing else we can look for to be sure? There is a shape in there , but we can't see any veins or embryos at all. Or is that shape the embryo?
I don't see how we are going to be able to candle Quail eggs if we can't candle these.

I re read. If it is because they are dark, you could just leave them if they don`t smell. I am having to do that with the maran eggs I`m incubating.

Dark/brown eggs are hard to see into because of their color. The mass you are seeing in them are probably the yolks. I wouldn't toss any brown eggs unless they start stinking or leaking.

The mass isn't the shape of a yoke any more, so I'm guessing their developing.
Will the air sac fill in if they quit? I am not sure if the one that quit filled in or if there ever was one.
my candler light is still a work in progess, And the light wasn't bright enough when I candled on the 6th day.
The eggs are also mixed breed so they are different in size so that is throwing me off.

If you could see veins and they are now disappearing, it is dead. I was showing my grandchildren the growth in mine, and I noticed I have a couple of quiters. Mine were then day 12. In the others, very dark brown shells, I could see a dark mass,so, like you, I am assuming they are developing.

Good luck us!
