Day 13 candle question....

I decided to try candling my welsummer eggs again this evening... I am on day 13... What I am seeing in almost all my eggs is one very large "blob" at the end of the egg. I can see in 4 of them a dark black circle which I am assuming is thier eye. I have a few that have no blob at all and assume they are no good. Are the blobs good or bad things??? Tried taking some photos but they are no good at all....can see nothing at all in the photos.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'blob'

Ofcoarse, they grow a bit more by day 13, but you should be

I can't see any of the veins as the eggs are really dark shelled....it is kind of like the egg is seperated into two there is a lighter section and a much larger darker blob... wish I could get a good picture... my camera has an automatic flash on it that is washing out the egg in the photos. Definately looks like the dark spots that I am thinking are eyes.

Yes, its growing.

It's frustrating to try to see into dark eggs, and even with a pretty bright light you can't really make out the cool features (like feathers and heartbeats) that you can with lighter eggs. I have only ever tossed out obviously clear dark eggs. I can't tell if they have stopped growing or what, so if they show growth I let them continue until hatch.

In dark shelled eggs, I can see veins by no "embryo", is this normal? They are Day 7 tonight?

Well that is exciting to hear...I have 25 out of 29 that look that way...

TO MOUNTAIN CHICKEN MAMA....that sounds fine for 7-8 days....as ling as your seeing the veins. Sometimes the embryo is difficult to see in dark eggs at that age. GOOD LUCK....
