Day 18 Question

Hello All!
Its day 18 and I have a question. I have a Marsh Roll-X with auto turn which uses a 2 piece turning grid. The first time I used this bator I left the grid in during the hatch, having the grid in there seemed dangerous and uncomfortable for the chicks. Can I assume it is OK to remove the eggs in order to get the grid out then return them to the bator before lockdown? Thanks!!

I'm new at this too but, my havobator instructions say to remove them and let them lay on the floor! I would take them out.

I'm ending day 19! I have wigglers and peeps, I'm very inpatient!!!

I am on day 20 and i have wigglers but not hearing any peeps... stupid fan is kinda loud though.... cant get my nose off the glass! and one is a twin so I am freaking out! lol will do my best to try and help but waiting until i think they need it. egg wiggling around like crazy!

When I shine my flash light into the bator window I get the wiggles and sometimes I hear the peeps! Give it a try!

My husband told me to leave them alone or they are gonna go blind from all my candleing and now this!

lol i have been flashing them with flash light too!! I get nervous when they dont wiggle now so it is just the only way i have to know they are still hanging in there lol. this is my 1st hatch so i am a ball of nerves anyway!

Remove all the eggs and take your turner out. Return the eggs to the bator and lay them on their sides, they'll be fine Happy Hatching!

Just went to stalk them again!!! I just had my 1st pip ever on a silkie egg!

Thanks for the advice! I removed the grid. Begining of day 19 no piping no wiggling yet

i just had a hatch about a week ago. i removed the turner on day 18 and set the eggs on their sides on a hand towel (which covered half of the bator floor). then i placed 4 wooden blocks (each block was about the size of 2 dominoes placed end to end, maybe a bit bigger). anyway, i placed these four blocks at the edge of the hand towel to make a nest of some sort out of the towel. i found this to work really well cuz the hatched chicks would eventually topple down to the regular bator floor, but they couldn't really get back up onto the towel again to bother the unhatched eggs. and clean up was easy too....just shake out the towel and throw it in the wash. my bator floor was super clean after the hatch.
