Day 18, starting my hatch finally!

Hi Friends,
Adam,,,,today is day 18 for the batch I got from you! They are officially off the turner! The blk silkie eggs are fertille for sure...on some of the others,,,I just couldn't tell even candling,,,eggs too dark for me. I'm not great at it! Anyways,,,,Jody,,,,your eggs are still in my bator that I got from you,,,have a few more days left to go with them. All look fabulous by the way,,,I candled a few and saw something so I put them back in and stopped looking. I don't check every egg,,,too afraid to have them out of the bator. AND the last few eggs I bought are some Serama eggs,,,oh I can't wait for those cuties either! I should have some cute cute babies all in all. Will keep posting as something happens ...Julie

Julie, I have not been reading all the posts and did not realize you were hatching again. I guess you replaced the bator that I still have of yours?? I could have mailed it back to you girl. What kind of bator did you get? I hope you get lots of babies. Keep us posted.

Hey Marie! Actually, I had 3 incubators plus one Bower incubator that I use for hatching only. So since you have one of the regular incubators that still left me with 2 which is all I was needing. Not hatching a huge amount like I did last time. Just one and a half incubators with eggs. It's day 20 for my first set of eggs and so far no pipping.

I hope nothing is wrong. I'm having a hard time this time keeping my Bower regulated with heat. It's either saying 98.9 and if I barely adjust the temperature dial it goes up to 101. So I hope I can still get a hatch here. Also I have 2 different thermometers in it. One is digital and one is the regular old kind. The regular one always reads 99 degrees and the digital is the one that keeps giving me fits. I don't know which one to believe. I have a wet moist washcloth in there along with water on the bottom for humidity but like I said,,,I can't seem to get my heat to stay put. It's making me nervous. Today is day 18 for my second set of eggs which are buff silkies. By the way,,,,,if I have a bunch you are welcome to some again. If nothing hatches on this second set of eggs then I will no longer use the Bower this time and just pull out my turner out of the Little Giants that I'm using and give those a go at hatching. I really liked that Bower last time because the chicks are so visable when they hatch but the only problem with it is that it does not hold good heat being plastic it seems. I'll keep you posted! Julie, on your Brower, put bubblewrap around it like a sleeve, if you can. I hear that helps the heat stablize better with the plastic body.

I wouldn't panic on day 20..mine often don't pip until day 21 and then they hatch quickly...just depends, so hang in there.

Hi all, I am on day 20 and when i checked my egg (only 1 fertile out of 12 i bought) I could hear it cheeping quite loudly. Is this normal before it pips?
