Day 18 and my button quails still haven't hatched. Mum is still sitting firmly on them and won't budge. Is this normal because I've read that buttons hatch at 16 days. Any insight?

Well.. The first time one of my buttons were broody, I could swear she was on the nest for at least 20 days before she had her chicks. Maybe she wasn't sitting tight the first few days. Maybe it was cold, so the average egg temp was a little lower. I don't know, but don't give up hope yet :) Mine have never hatched before day 17.
A pic of my happy little family this morning - I just noticed Eyebrows (chick 2 from the left) - he looks funny! The last chick is hiding behind the water tower.

Hey newbie. 5 out of 8 have hatched!! Mum sitting very tight on them so I don't want to stress her out much. I should start seeing them run around in the next day or so. I was only able to snap a pic of one of them.

Oww, what a cutie! Congratulations on them! Make sure you have a high protein feed for them, that's small enough for them to eat (nearly powder). In a dish so low they can get to it. And that they can't get wet by walking in their water.

I sure will. Thanks newbie. I'll post more pics once they're all running around.
