Mother of Chicks
Songster
Hi all,
This is just a mini-vent. I am on day 19 and my 2 remaining silkie eggs are in lockdown! I never thought it would be so stressful or that I would feel so invested. I am mostly scared about if only one makes it and the other is a lonely little chickadee. It would also be horrible if neither made it. Both eggs were candled on day 18 and they were about the right size, reasonable air cells and I could see them moving.
I have ordered some more hatching eggs which are arriving special courier today so it wouldn't be too long before I got them some company.
I think I have just a ton of what ifs in my head. Like - what if I messed up incubation despite all my research and fussing? What if I can't help them hatch if I need to because I freeze? What if...?
I am being paranoid and I know it, but god this is intense. Any support would be great as I feel like I keep leaping up to check the eggs every 5 mins. I am such a beginner
Also, when in lockdown, do most eggs start to rock before they pip or after?
Thank you. I bet that made no sense - too much coffee and not enough sleep
Much love and appreciation - thanks for reading - stay safe all
