I am converting the lean to part of my barn into a coop. One of the previous owners raised hunting dogs in the lean to. So there is doors all along the one wall. I am building a new wall so I can insulate the barn. We live in Northern Michigan so it gets pretty cold.

Here is what I have to work with

I had lawn equipment stored in there so I had to move all that.

My helpers hard at it

All cleaned out ready to go. If you look where the lean to meets the main barn you will see that the barn is higher than the lean to. I have to figure out a way to box that in, so the girls dont get out and nothing gets in.

Just some random shots showing you what I have

The first wall went up, and I was too cold to go any farther tonight. It was around 30 or so out tonight blowing and just miserable. Inside the coop its was maybe 50, so I dont know if I really need to insulate but I have a couple rolls laying around anyways

That is awesome. I had a similar problem I added wood and secured it with screws so they could not get out.

I read somewhere that you have to be careful about the insulation you may have to cover it with plywood or paneling so they don'y peck at it and get sick.

Just a sugggestion

All I got done really was the one wall framed, and the electric ran. I put the light over where the roosts will be. That way if it does get really cold I can always put a heat bulb in.

I also put a plug in, just in case I need it.
