Hi all,

Today is day 20 of our chicken egg incubation. The eggs have been in lockdown since day 18. This morning all the eggs were rocking however in the last few hours they’ve stopped. Is this normal? I can’t hear any peeping at all either which slightly worries me as they were rocking so much... Temp is 36.6-37.3 (incubator doesn’t hold steady) and the humidity is 63. It looks like one of the eggs has a crack in the back of it but I can’t see it properly as it’s facing away from the front of the incubator! If that is a crack, Is it normal that the baby wouldn’t of been peeping or chirping?

Thanks!

Most chicks are quiet in the egg hatching process unless they are in distress or other chicks are making noises. Sometimes if I tap or chirp at them they "talk" back, but they are mostly quietly.
They are working or resting, and don't always want to make time to "talk" us through it. ;)

Thank you! I feel a lot better now. Should I be worried they’re not rocking the eggs anymore?

I'm not an EGGspert at this, but from what I've seen, they might just be taking a break, I wouldn't worry to much unless in the next 2-3 hrs you don't see anything.
