I have 4 silkie eggs on lockdown since Fri about 5 am. I candled and 3 of the 4 looked good although I think the air cell on one of them may have been a little too big. I'm still new at this so I really don't know. The temps and humidity were very inconsistent throughout the incubation. Temps ran from about 98.6-99.8, humidity was all over the place. Ususally in the 35-40% range. When they went on lockdown, the humidity soared to 86% so I opened the bator just enough to stick a paper towel in and soak up a little of the water from the outer tray. Could they have drowned with the humidity that high? Then for some unknown reason we lost power for about 45 min Sat a.m. Nothing is going on at all with the eggs.....no rocking, no cheeping, nothing. I'm really discouraged.....what are the odds that they're ok? On the last batch of silkies that I hatched, I kept the humidity levels around 50% and temps were stable at 99.5 throughout and they hatched a day early. What do ya'll think? I really wanted these babies.
Woke up this morning to one pipping!!!
Sure DH was not real happy with me when I ran into the bedroom at 4:15 am screaming I HAVE A PIP!!! So funny, I was singing happy birthday and I swear it sounded like the chick was chirping the SAME tune. Probably just telling me to shut up cuz I couldn't carry a tune if you handed it to me
Woke up this morning to one pipping!!!
