Hi I lost my previous thread. I’ve had so many awesome people help so I hope they see this. It’s day22. Two have pipped and sitting. One pipped wrong end. My temp fell this morning. Not sure for how long but there was no progress last night. Should I be helping them now do to the poor incubator. I can’t believe this is happening during a hatch.

Hi, so how long have they been externally pipped for? The chick that pipped on the wrong side will take longer since it internally and externally pipped at the same time. How low did your temp get, and whats your humidity at?

Thank you sooooo much guys!! The temp got down to 95 ugh and I don’t have have a humidity gage which is a learning point since it’s the most important thing during a hatch. But I have extra water in the incubator and I rewet the towels through the vents with hot water through the day so theres a little condensation on the windows. The one that pipped backwards made a bigger hole this morning the other two still have their first pip. 10am will be 24 hours. There 8 other eggs that have done nothing yet. I am learning so much this first round.

Chicks can take 48 hours or more from external pip to zip, and since the baby pipped on the wrong side it could take up to 72 hours.

The chick that is yawning has a yellow membrane leading to white. The other is white and the one pipped on the wrong side looks translucent almost. He’s doing good.

Ok, If the membrane starts to take on a more yellow/brown-ish look, I would apply either some coconut oil, Neosporin, or food-grade mineral oil, just dab it on the membrane and keep it away from the chicks mouth, do that as needed.

So if they are still yawning and you see veins they are still absorbing the yolk sac, so just leave them be, for now. No progress 24 hours after the external pip is normal, so don't rush them. Keep us posted.
