Good Afternoon,

I am on day 22 of incubation for my first hatch (tonight at 10:00 pm will be day 23). I had 8 eggs make it to incubation, one developed a blood ring when I candled at 7 days. After that, the eggs developed well. I stopped turning my eggs at day 16, as they were shipped eggs. I kept humidity between 30%-40% days 1-18, then brought it up to 60%-65% on day 18. I had two chicks hatch on day 20, one chick hatch later on day 21. I still have 4 eggs that haven't even pipped. I did quickly candle them, as I had to add more water because my incubator tray had dried out and humidity was decreasing. None of them have even pipped internally nor did I see any movement (this morning).

  • I have a circulated air incubator- Farm Innovator 4200 with an automatic egg turner.
  • Temps have been steady at 99.5, with one spike yesterday up to 104. (If they were still alive when that happened, I have little hope now)I'm not sure how long it had spiked but my guess is that it was roughly 1-3 hours. Go figure, the one time I decide to just leave it alone because my anxiety was through the roof, something went wrong.
  • Eggs had detached air-cells, with some pretty bad saddling. I placed them in a Styrofoam egg carton for hatching due to this.
Right now, I'm only at a 42% hatch rate. I feel absolutely awful and cried last night, if they chicks went to a different chick mom, they probably would have lived :hit

So, I guess my questions are this.....

  • What are the odds of chicks hatching 3 days apart from each other in the same batch?
  • At what point do I cut my loss and stop obsessively checking for an external pip?
I'm absolutely exhausted. I only slept a couple of hours the night before last night, watching chick #3 ("Dandi" Dandelion), worried sick that she would pass. Last night I hardly slept, I was up all night thinking about what I did wrong and coming downstairs to check on the temperature to make sure I wasn't cooking my possible chicks.
