Hello!
After having broke them 4 times I then decided to give fertile eggs to my 2 broody chooks.
Only 2 viable eggs were left.
1 started hatching yesterday day 21, there was a crack. This morning still a crack and some dried blood. Then this afternoon I found the egg almost crushed with a dead chick inside :(

The other one is still intact. I candled it yesterday and I could see some blood vessel.

My question is how long can I wait before declaring the last egg dead....:(

If you can see live working blood vessels and movement I'd leave it, a chick pipping whith overly noticable blood is a sign that it may not have absorbed all its nutrients yet is wait another 24 hrs for a pip and if it does give it another 24 after that. A dead chicks egg while extremely be dark as the blood vessels will die and turn brown once popping starts you can't candle as the chick is expanding to fill the egg and get leverage to manouver so keep that in mind if youre first egg has already pipped. We had our first Brood hatched chick pip early on day 19 only to die halfway through hatching. The other 3 hatched around 48 hrs later all totally healthy! Hrs involved make big a difference in chick health during hatch so give it as long as possible

In the photo it looks like the chick has unabsorbed innards to me, so I'd say your second egg is possibly still viable and just taking a more appropriate amount of time to absorb its yolk and prepare to hatch.

My first chick hatched on 31 January and then 6 on the second day (31 jan) and 3 more on the third day (1st feb) and one egg is crack (2nd feb) chick is struggling to come out. Six more eggs are still there under her. She is still sitting on them. How long will it take more.
