Lockdown was on April 7th and I'm getting worried now... Thsi is my first try hatching eggs and I only have 3 in the bator. Anyway, I thought they just didn't make it, so I carefully (and quickly) took one egg out and candled it. There was obvious movement, but quite a bit of space left in there. Maybe that's just an illusion since they've been on one side for 6 days. So back in the bator he went. I just hope I didn't disturb anything! It feels really nice and humid in there, so that's good. But what should I do? If they're still alive, how long should I wait? Now I'm afraid I've miscounted the days and put them on lockdown too soon, but every time I recount, it comes out the same.

How many days late have your ducks ever hatched? Is it possible they really just aren't ready yet even though they should have been 3 days ago?

We thought we saw the eggs moving on Sunday when they were supposed to hatch, but haven't seen anything since, so I think it was just everyone standing around the bator causing it to wiggle a bit. Nobody's even pipped (or I wouldn't even have thought to open it).

There are 3 possibilities:

Full Khaki Campbell
Khaki x Blue runner
Khaki x Pekin

Those are the only ducks we had when the eggs were laid.

Khaki's take 28 days to hatch. What day did you set them? If the temps in the incubator were a little low, it could take longer. At this point I would urge you not to open the incubator anymore. Duck eggs in my experience are very sensitive to humidity at hatch time. Its not time to throw in the towel yet. Give them some more time.

Wow! that seems so long. lol.

I don't plan on opening the incubator again now that I know they're still alive. It's ok to keep adding water through the vent hole every few days, right? I'm getting excited now because we've heard a few peeps every so often tonight! First I thought it was the ducklings from McMurray's on the porch, but it's definately from the incubator. But I don't want to get my hopes up in case they don't make it.

Bumping once more just to get a question answered; whether or not I can add water for humidity every once in awhile through a vent hole?
