Day 32 of broody hen....

Had 2 chicks on days 21 and 22.... with more eggs under her...

Today, day 32?? 3 new additions to the family. Guess these just got a late start somehow. I hear peeping and removed some empty shells from under her. i am letting the chicks hang out with mom for a day then I will move them to the brooder. I do have a heat lamp on Momma(Hanna our Barred Rock hen..)

Congrats!!

Although I'm happy for ya, I'm a bit surprised mama hen would stay on the other eggs so long after the first few hatched!

Update:

Day 35. One more hatched last night. I took it this morning, I think we may finally be done. She still has 5 or 6 eggs, but this time after taking the chick she let out a BIG squawk, and got off of the nest.... So we're done...

So we ended up with 6 live chicks they all look like their Black Australorp daddy.....
