Day old chicks and feed??

I have a day old chick. Can I feed it medicated chick starter or does it have to be mash? Should I mix it with water or feed it dry?

I feed mine medicated crumbles and kept water in a "chick" waterer that I picked up at TSC. You might want to put marbles or pebbles in the waterer to keep chickie from drowning. I have not ever done a mash for my babies, but I know that some on here do.

I also put Polyvisol drops (infant vitamins) in the water for the first couple of days.

Thanks. I do have medicated chick starter which I'm giving to my older chicks but I didn't know if day olds could have it. I do have some water in a lid from a jar and have some marbles in it. I think I might go get some polyvisol (one without iron?) though and use it in the water. Just a drop or two?
