Three days ago my 1-2 year old Jersey Giant hen refused to get out of the coop. She has to jump up about 18 inches to a ledge and then hop down again. I lifted her out. Later that day I saw her have what seemed to be a type of seizure. Since then I have seen her do this 4-5 times. She squats, her eyes roll back, she lays her head on her back, thrashes her neck around for a 3-5 seconds, then her body will fall backward and her wings will flail. She then pops back up, eyes bright (but not what I would call fully alert) and goes on about her business as if nothing happened. This morning she was worse and the episode was longer. Immediately after, I caught her and she seemed to have no real consciousness of my presence. Her eyes kept rolling into the back of her head. She did not respond to my finger near her eyes. I held her until she seemed steady and then put her down. She wandered off with the flock. Someone suggested she was de nerved which they described as 'like having a concussion' Any thoughts on this?

That is strange! Sounds like some kind of brain damage but I don't really know. Has she eaten anything different lately? Maybe a poisonous plant of sorts?

Typically that is one of the reasons chickens will act like that.If not a plant, maybe some kind of toxin If that is the case(and it wouldn't really hurt regardless of the case.) make sure she drinks LOTS of water and moniter her behavior. I am sorry I am not much help on this one. The odd thing though is that I would think she would have processed it by now!
