DE Question.

I was talking with my wife. She said that one of our friends was using DE to worm her chickens. She also said that she was throwing her eggs away for 10 days after treating the chickens internally with the DE. Is this necessary?

From what I understand, there is no evidence that DE will treat for worms. That being said, there is no reason to throw away eggs when chickens have been eating food grade DE. People throw eggs away when treating with chemical dewormers.

DE may be helpful in preventing mite infestations. DE is certainly helpful in drying things out and thus holding down odor.
