When do you start using DE with your chickens and ducks?

I don’t use it, because it can affect eyes and breathing. It is an over-hyped product. What are you using it for? It will not treat worms and it will not treat a lice or mite infestation.

I had read on facebook groups to use it but as I was waiting for someone here to reply, I read a really good article about the disadvantages to using it. I appreciate your feedback. It makes sense about causing respiratory issues. I have a Cayuga Duck that is almost 2 weeks old and she has a white area showing at the top of her wing near her body and I saw her "picking" at it earlier. I guess I will just watch her for a day or so.

Do you suspect lice or lice eggs? Is it a wound? Perhaps if you post a picture someone familiar with ducks can help.

You might try some coconut oil if the skin is dry or scaly. Do you see any lice or mites on the skin?

I will have to get the big glasses out for that. I don't think so but I will double check. Can I use Vitamin E oil?

I checked and it doesn't look like any lice or mites. I'm thinking it's just missing feathers. I did go ahead and put some coconut oil on it. Thanks for the help.
