Dead 8 week old chick dead

I would suggest a source of plain water too. That is a general good practice when adding anything to their water.

(Exception: if there is a medicine they all need to receive, like Corid to treat coccidiosis, then they should not have a source of plain water.)
Thanks for the advice. I actually drop it in during my morning rounds, but don't add in for the rest of the day. Kind of like giving them their "daily multi vitamin". This is just a summer practice when I'm changing out their waterers 2-3x daily due to the high heat and algae formation. Even in the shady areas they can get super hot🥵

Thank you for your reply. It is hot here too. I’m thinking it’s the heat. I have some electrolyte powder I got with my chicks. I will start adding to there water again. I thought they didn’t need it anymore. What kind of herbs to you recommend. I thought a fan was a no no for chickens because of the draft blowing on them. I have them on my rabbits but I can set one up in their coop at least to keep the air moving. Their area is clean. Today I opened their area up so they can access the rest of the coop and 30x10 run. They have pretty much stayed in the coop because my 3 adult hens chase them and peck at them. But they have access if they want it. Plenty of food and water.
if you grow fresh herbs like oregano, thyme, rosemary, mint or basil...these are some great basic herbs to sprinkle on their scratch feed and nesting boxes, freshly chopped or dried. There are also good brands on Amazon and chewy (I like Pampered Mama, MagJo and Sassafras and Pumpernickle). Make sure to offer chick grit😍🐥

From the way you said it the first time, I thought you were putting it in all water sources, and leaving it there all day every day-- which is not a good idea (and the electrolyte instructions usually say not to do that, but not everyone reads the instructions.) It is possible to overdose on vitamins or electrolytes, and you don't want to force your chickens to do that.

What you are actually doing is not as likely to cause trouble, compared with what I thought you were doing.
