When I went to feed them this morning I found one dead. She seemed mean to the other chicks. When I found her she had a hole in her side. Is this normal to happen. I do have two different age groups together but my three older ones love the younger ones. They are only younger by a a few weeks. When I got them the older ones took to them very well. The one older even acts like a mom to the younger ones. They have plenty of room so they are not crowded.

A picture of the hole, and the area they are kept in might help identify the cause. I can think of only 3 reasons; one of the other birds, it ran into something sharp, or there's a predator or vermin who was trying to eat it. Sometimes birds just die for no apparent reason, but usually there are no signs, and definitely no holes.
