Good morning - One of my 5 1/2 week old chicks died. I had her separated from my flock because of an injury (3 weeks prior), and just moved her to another, larger brooder. She had been doing really well. She went from not being able to move on her own, to running around some. I didn't put her pack with the flock, yet, because she was still a tad off balance and smaller. Anyway, I moved her to a larger brooder, got up this morning, and she was dead. My older kids said she was fine just minutes earlier. I'm so upset.

Hmm. Maybe something quit internally? Sadly, loses happen with animals and you need to be prepared. Especially with prey animals.

She got hurt three weeks ago and was nursed back to a point where she could jump, flap her wings, and scratch the bottom of the smaller brooder. I moved my other girls to their coop and gave sick chick the bigger brooder because I was worried she was getting away to active for the smaller one. That was yesterday. Now, she's dead. Is it possible she slipped? I am just trying to get some kind of understanding because myself and my kids put a lot of time and effort into getting her better. As a result, we got very attached. ☹️
