dead chick

i had a 5 week old chick i found with a hurt leg it could not walk with it i put it in my hospital and 3 hours later it was dead any ideas about this

Do you know what caused the injured leg? Possibly what ever caused it (dog attack? Got caught somewhere or something fell on it? ) may have also caused internal injuries, that caused the death. Did you check it over for other injuries? If it was an injury, at least you didn't lose it to some sickness that could spread to your other chickens.

i dont think it was sick i had it in a brooder with 20 other in a 2 by 6 brooder no marks on chick i think it may of got trampeled.the rest looks fine

If you have 20 5 week old chicks in a 2 ft by 6 ft. brooder, sounds like they are probably getting pretty crowded. Do you have something you could move part of them into, so they would have a little more room. They only have a half-foot of space each, and probably less than that, as you must have a feeder and waterer taking up some space.
