Dead chicken in Oakland. What to do now?

Sounds fun. I'll give that a try.

Any additional suggestions?

I just got a preliminary report back from our veterinary diagnostic lab today that says that the 2 hens I sent in last week died of the exact same thing. They died within 24 hours of each other though, so I am wondering if anyone knows if a toxic mushroom can cause this?? I found some white fuzzy mushrooms growing in the corner of one of the nest boxes (I found the first hen dead in this nest box, and the nest boxes have a door that opens to the outside of the coop wall, and when it rains sideways, they leak).

I'm going to post another thread about it, but thought I'd post here too...

Our neighbor had a similar problem. All his chickens died from what they called Fatty Liver. He fed them too much corn apparently.

There was no charge. I don't know if it is just in California, but the UC labs around here will provide some free services to folks raising chickens at home. I think they actually call it the backyard chicken program.
