Dead Chickens...

I have had 3 chickens die in my coop over the last 2 months. I had 12 chickens and they are approximately 3 years. Is that normal?

It could just be a coincidence, however there could also be an underlying cause.
Have you checked the general health of the remaining birds and looked for mites etc??
I don't know what you have in terms of space but it may be a good idea to move the remaining hens to a different enclosure and apply some ground sanitizing power to the current Pen and give it a good clean.

Did the birds that died have any symptoms?
Also what breed were they? as some do not live as long as others

Inspect your birds for lice/mites. Worm them.
