To prevent flipping add Co-enzyme Q-10 (5mg/day/per bird), boron (5mg/day/per 25 birds), probiotics (prevents diseases) and digestive enzymes (aids in efficient digestion of nutrients) in their feed.
Our neighbor told us about using these 2 years ago and we have only lost 6 cornish xs out of last 3000 raised and 0 (zero) turkeys out of 400. Before using the supplements we lost as much as 10% of our cornish x and 20% of our turkeys.
Our cornish x dressed out at 5.5 to 6 pounds in 6 weeks. They consume 20% less feed for this dressed weight than our same number of cornish x before using supplements. Before using these supplements it took 8 to 9 weeks to get the same dressed weight that we now achieve in 6 weeks. We do not get broken wing/leg bones ever since using the supplements above.
The turkeys were dressing out at 18 to 24 pounds in 16 to 17 weeks compared to 17 to 22.5 pounds in 18 to 19 weeks (when allowed to range). If confined they achieve these same weights 2-3 weeks earlier according to some studies.
The savings of feed cost offset the added cost of the supplements (not counting the labor savings). They are healthier, more active and taste better!
Here are just a few legitimate sites on the use of these supplements in animal feeds.
A faster growing chick needs greater amounts of nutrients in a shorter period of time. To increase what they get from their feed they need quality supplemental nutrients and improved digestive health.
