Dead hen, no idea what happened.

One of my 11 month old chickens died today. I have been to the coop and run four or five times today. Everyone seemed fine. Went down about 20 minutes ago and one of them was dead. There's not a mark on her. Any idea how I can find out what happened??

There are many possibilities. Heat,egg bound, crop issue, heart issue, ect. Best way to find out is to do a necropsy.

Is it possible that she might have been on a higher place and jump down maybe hurt herself really bad can you check her if she had any mites under her arms or anything like that did you notice anything different about her yesterday

She was in the nest box, it's only 56° today. There's not a mark on her anywhere. No mites. All of the other chickens seem fine. She was a black copper maran. Only 11 months old.

Possibly egg laying issue

Did you noticed her getting bullied by the other hen's did you see any panting the night before even though it wasn't hot breathing with her beak open?

Yes, I had 14 chickens, now 13 and I averaged 10 to 12 eggs a day. It's hard to tell which ones were laying but I know she has laid before.

No, actually if anything she did the bullying.

Okay I'm sorry I giggled a little bit at that but I'm really sorry that you lost your han I don't know what else to say. Sometimes some hens are prone to sporadic heart attacks. What was her name.
