We recently acquired a new rooster to be the head of our flock of hens, a copper-grey Americana.
He was skittish and afraid of the girls, who were mean to him, and is still picked on. He seemed to startle easily, and his behavior was strange. Then, one day feeding him, I tested something. I waved a hand close by his face, snapped my fingers, and even tapped him. He didn't blink twice. Then, I switched to the other side, and he jumped into the air in fear. I realised, he was blind in his right eye, and as I studied it, I noticed it was clouded over, like a cataract, and even odder, which I noticed at first, it was a different color than the other. ( One blue, this one red) I am guessing at his former home, or maybe here, another chicken pecked him and blinded him.
Now, I have to figure out how to keep him safe from predators and make sure he gets enough to eat, because he won't likely defend himself because he is too mild-mannered, and only has one eye! I believe though he has a good chance at a normal life, as long as predators stay away!

Wow, that is strange! I wonder how it didn't get too terribly infected. Do you have pictures of each eye?

Sorry for the delay. I will try to get pictures next week if I can, we are going out of town soon so I don't have time now. He is about 2 years old I believe.
Healthy besides his blindness. Yes, I wasn't aware of any infection if he had any
