Deep Bedding and Poop Boards?

I'm looking into the Deep Bedding method and need some real advice. I am not wanting to compost, so deep litter is not something I'd like to do. I also will be using poop boards to help with cleanup.

I'm in North Texas and it gets quite hot here with mainly mild winters. I have laid down about an inch of small pebbles to help with drainage. I was going to do a sand floor, but thinking I might change that to some sort of bedding. I am hoping to avoid having to lay down wood flooring as I'm entering the last phase of my coop build!

Use straw or better, hay, have a good layer and gumdrops will hide from you in the bedding. Not sure how much grass you have. You can just bag it and substitute for hay. When ready to clean/change bedding, rake out and dispose of.
