Deep Litter Method and DE

I am starting the deep litter method on my 4X6 coop with a linolium floor. I am using pine shavings and have been reading about using DE.What is the best brand to use and how much how often? Where do you purchase DE? I called Country Max and Agway and thy only have pool grade and bug grade, no food grade. Thanks in advance for all the great advice

I use pine shavings and DE in my coop.
I use perma-guard brand, and make sure it is food grade DE.

I use the deep little and DE. Works well for me. I also stir the wood chip almost every night. My coop still smell like wood chips on most days. Almost no flies in the coop either. The chicken and turkeys have been in the coop since May.

I use Green Sense. All their products are food grade. you can go on Amazon. com and find it..they offer 1 pound bags of it (that lasted me a looong time) and that way you can test it out. Here is the link to the 1 lb bags...also..just click around and find the bigger bags if you like.

Around here, the feed stores that cater to horses all have food grade DE.
