Oh, wow, reading this thread I realize I way overdid the DE in my hen house. I put down a lot under a thick layer of pine shavings and then a little straw. Do you think I should remove it, or just add on top and take it out in the spring? Thanks!

As long as it is not to dusty like mine to wear you have to wear a mask because of the dust.

I would leave it. I use FOOD GRADE DE. I use it in the nest boxes on the floor and in their feed and places they like to dust. I have never had any problems with mites and such and people have remarked that my birds don't stink. I love it when my customers want to see my birds and walk through my gardens.
