Deer netting as run fence

I am seperating my breeds so I can have full blooded eggs in my next coop. The coops are inside of a chainlink fence, so predators don't really worry me. I was wondering if deer netting could be used as the sides. It'd save money, but I don't want to risk my birds. Anyone tried this? Our only predators were our neighbors dogs and hawks. The hawks haven't claimed a chicken since we covered the run and AC took the neighbors dogs.

So, you're saying this would not be the perimeter of the run, just a way of partitioning a predatorproof run into separate sections for separate breeds?

It would work ok for peaceful chickens.

However if you turned out to have 2 roos who did not get along and wanted to see who would be the last one standing, I would not give it good odds at *all* of standing up. (Roosters can take apart lighter-gauge chickenwire if they really, really want to...)

So, it depends how much you want to bet on none of your roos ever having a bad-mood day.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
