YIKES!!! I found one of my hens acting egg bound late this afternoon. Did the warm bath thing and then remembered calcium. I gave her a teaspoon of dolomite powder in a bit of yogurt and about an hour later this thing came out. I caught her eating it and managed to get it away from her. It was mostly egg white with traces of yolk , not sure how much yolk she ate, It looks like the membrane was caught in the oviduct and pulled into this weird shape.
Now on another subject: I gave this girl a pea sized helping of Zimectrin Gold for tapeworm three days ago. Up until today she has been laying flawless eggs. ( I have had her for a month so I don't know her egg laying history}
I am wondering if deworming meds interfere with calcium uptake and if anyone else has had egg issues ( rubber eggs, weird shells, etc. )after using a chemical dewormer, thanks.
