Delaware Flock @ 18 Weeks Old

They look great Cyn, these guys are doing well and looking good, I still have Luciano and Gallant and seven pullets. I need to chose either Roo over the other but each has their own nice features... Luc the better comb, Gallant the better color.

I need to take more pics and ask seriousbill and you what I think, chuckle.

Do you think Janet has the written standard? In particular roo tail coloration and angle of set is in question. I'm holing out on buying the APA standards, the new one is due out this fall....

And the OLD one I have - doesn't have Delawares.

Here's hoping that shortly you see them get about laying!

How old are they? Delawares have "evolving" markings over time. The juvenile smut clears out as they come to maturity. Isaac and the girls still have some at 18 weeks old.

Cher, I'm sure Janet has the written standard. I'm going to try to get a copy of the new one when it's out, too. Let me see what I can find...I think I may know where to find it.

***Okay, the tail by standard should be at a 40 degree angle.

Cyn....Issac has turned out to be quite a Stud!!! He is gorgeous! I feel so fortunate to have Pepper and Lil Bit. While they were "culls" for you and I understand the reasoning, they are such great birds. My whole family has grown so attached to those 2.

I'm so glad you are enjoying those sweet birds, Scott. Makes me happy when I know they've gone to a good home.

I had the pleasure of seeing these guys in person- pictures don't do them justice. They are such a pretty BRIGHT white- I wouldn't be surprised if they glowed in the dark! Great job Cynthia!

BTW- the blue BBS Orp IS a roo- hope he is nearly as gorgeous & big as his daddy!

Amy, that should be one good looking blue rooster! I was thinking you had one male and one female, but with Smoky being the mama and feathering out like a male, I wasn't 100% sure about that.

I've been really pleased both with the Heritage boys I got from Cyn and the breeder birds I also got, the breeders werent quite as good but they're far closer than the few hatchery pullets I got for comparison.

I really like Delawares. You might offend one but scaring one isn't possible lol. They are terrific foragers and they're gorgeous.
