I will be purchasing mine through Whitemore Farm. They are only a tad over an hour away from me so I'll save shipping and I like they breeed for size.

We have raised a Delaware cross (DE x RIR) and I think the world of them. They are enthusiastic foragers and decent weight-gainers. The hens are prolific layers. The meat is superb, but I think any bird raised on pasture is going to be good. We kept a rooster from last year's batch, and he's a perfect gentleman (as far as roosters go.)

Thanks Katy. I have some great Delawares also. Our first hatch is Feb 21 its close to sold out next hatch Feb 28th will hatch every week. I took some BCM roosters in to butcher this week. They realy surprised me. They averaged 4 lbs and where very nice birds. Took a while to get there but nice birds. We Have some Red Pros witch are a freedom ranger they take about 12 weeks to get to 4lbs but are able to free range without the leg or heart problems the cornish have. Also the Necked necks are available. They are thin skined and make nice fryers. The skin is nice and krispy. If you have any questions let me know I will help any way I can. Tyank you

New Hampshire Reds were the meat chicken before the CornishX takeover . New Hampshire Reds are still great birds , sometimes the goodones are hard to find but they are out there .

The NHR I got (from Privett Hatchery) were smaller and narrower than the Delawares. The cockerel had enormous thighs and legs, and a long narrow breast. Very yellow skin and reddish meat. Quite different from the Dels! Nice birds though.

Sorry John, I guess I had forgotten that you had Delewares . . . I AM A DUMMY OK???? Cari look to John for some stock, he has great prices and breeding stock.

Hey guys for delawares if you want to get some breeders there is a group of us on a mission to bring the Delaware back the site is http://www.delawarepoultryclub.org/ and there is a list of breeders there. I am a member but my numbers are too small at the moment to offer any till next year. Kathyinmo contact her say I sent you for some leads and info on them. The true delawares are few and far between but with enough of us working with them soon there will be plenty to go around especially for the DP road many people want to take.
