Delawares as meat birds?

Me!

Well, I dont have a rooster, culled mine and had stew, but the lines I am hatching eggs from came from seriousbill here on BYC. She prefers to sell to people interested in preserving the breed and has some wonderful stock. The hatchery Dels are so narrow usually, and many have Columbian Rock bred into them. Even at about 24 weeks, my cockerel we culled was a very large boy. Would make a fine meat bird, IMO, but of course, the original Dels were bred for that. I will have eggs/chicks when the youngsters grow to maturity. At the moment, I have only one pullet since I culled the rooster and lost another pullet to a freak heart defect.
Sandhill has some decent ones, but they are sold out till the end of summer, I think.
