Hello all, I am new here, and so glad I found this Forum, fellow chicken addicts! I will be first too admit I know nothing about genetics, but very curious on some cross outcomes. Del rooster over blk Aus hen,and NH Red roo over BlkAus. hen. All three of My favorite chickens. Am sure I will have soo many more questions, lol, but I will spare you all for now. Those are the two roos I have too work with, and a SL Wyandotte. thanks again, would appeciate any input..

Both crosses will produce a bird that is basically black. The birds may leak some white (silver), red or buff color.

Thanks Tad, Is there a site, or very basic genetics chart somewhere here on forum, that might assist a newbie(me) is understanding the genetics better? Have always wondered in poultry, who,(male or hen) influences what? and too what degree, thanks again..

I know quit a few people on this forum want to know more about chicken genetics. I had an internet site, at one time, that I would direct you to that would help you but my site was erased from the server. I do not know of any book on the market that would help individuals learn chicken genetics. I would suggest that you ask questions here and someone will help answer your question.

That is Ok. All of the books I have read and the sites I have seen are not written to educate. They just give out information. Writing a book for reading and one that educates is different. The site you directed the forum member to is very good and contains a ton of information. I think I will get with a moderator and find some way of placing a source on this forum for chicken genetics and ever body can add their favorite sites or books and threads on the source. That way people can just go to the source and see if the genetics about a cross has been answered.

I also think individuals should start using the search function. This would help quit a bit.
