we're here in freezing cold/burning hot (ha, weird weather lately) Michigan. and they are in a very rural place.

i thought it was weird too, but sometimes these laws can be sketchy and hard to follow. i think it sometimes depends on the officer that interprets to the best of his/her judgment too.

i still say, ew about the vulture/dog thing. ack.

my friend shot a bear that was after his family and horses. fined MAJOR by the state and he was saving his wife. that is the law. it's not always in our favor, but set forth (in faith) for the common good.

what state is your friend in?,,i have never in my life heard anything like that,,in fact in EVERY state it is legal to shoot anyone, or ANYTHING that causes a threat to you and/ or your family or property. ,,,,mus be city dwellers,,,hehe

i just want to make sure i never move to a state like that.

you'd be surprised at the laws & such. Did you know that if someone breaks into your house and your dog bites him he can sue you & win? I know it's different from state to stae but I think that's most states too. The laws are not always for the "common good" but the largest group that's speaking. We literally still have a town ordinance here that states we are not allowed to hang laundry on a clothes line. It's not inforced of course but I imagine if someone really wanted to press the issue with a neighbor it could become a huge thing.

Re-read her post then.

She said thank god for....insert her bird of choice...they serve a purpose. Therefore implying he didn't make these nasties.

LOL re-read the post I never said God did not make the beautiful or the *not so beautiful* creatures. I just thanked him for the 1 I find particularly majestic and doing a job that clears the back yard of animals that reproduce at an extremely fast rate.

if a bugler falls down your stairs he can sue your insurance,,,UNLESS you have "no trespassing" signs every 200 feet ( not sure exact length) around your whole property.,,,is a sad sad thing.
and along with the cop that dealt with your friend, was also a prosecutor and judge that seemed to think he was wrong.,,,hehe, are you sure he gave you the "whole" story,,haha

the1much I see you went from Maine to Texas? That must have been a culture shock especially with the climate. Is there a great difference in the wildlife down there and with predators in your yard etc.?

compared to maine,, theres nothing here cept a few birds, and coyotes,, but their all "city animals",,,the vultures wont even look at my birds ,,,,if they move, lol. ,here its rats and bugs,,,,i would rather put up with my maine animals,,is easy to stop bears and things,,,but not those DANG bugs,,and all this poisonous things!!
wink.png

the climate was easy to handle,,,is ALOT warmer here,, but its a DRY heat,,,when its 100f here,, it feels like 80f in maine,,,,,man doesnt humidity have ALOT to do with being "comfy". ,,,, and these "red-necks" still dont know bout a "hippie-yankee" hahaha

How do you know if a bugler breaks into your home?

You wake up in the dead of night to the sound of "Reveille." Or maybe "Taps."
