I dont really know if I am posting in the right area?? but here goes............ I have designated an area for my chickens, where the coop will be placed & a safe fenced off area for them to hang out in when I'm not around, however when we moved all the rubble and ivy from this area we found that the previous owners had had bonfires there, household waste mostly from beds to plastic, and lots of glass. I have removed everything as far as I can see & plan to dig in the topsoil that came from when we recently dug out a duck pond & then I'll probably grass seed it. Does anyone think this area would still be toxic & a danger for the chickens? your thoughts or advice would be gratefully recieved, thanks

If all the waste had been burnt, there likely is nothing liquid or gas that is still toxic. Plastic and glass are not necessarily toxic in their own right, but ingesting glass might be a disaster for the chickens.

It might be a gigantic chore, but digging out all the loose surface soil and backfilling with sand might be the best option. My chickens commonly dig down a foot for bathing and general scratching, so that might be a target depth.
