Designed a coop... will it stand up?

Hmm you're right about maintenance. Ventilation shouldn't be a problem I'm planning on building some vent slides into the coop. This is England so they'll be lucky for a non windy day anyway!

If you build it too close to the fence or other building that fence/building traps the air and prevents proper ventilation of the area, best to give in some airspace all around it so it can breath...

And that goes hand in hand with maintenance, if you build it too close the small area between the two walls has a high probability of trapping moisture and causing, mold, mildew and promoting rot due to lack of sun light and proper air exchanges...

There will be about 30cm on the long side and maybe 40 or 50 on the narrow side. I'll be able to get to the long side over the fence and should be able to squeeze down the narrow side.

Do you think this is enough? Or if not is there any further ventilation I could build into the coop to increase airflow on these sides?

There's no question the sun light wont reach the back long and narrow side but I think it'll get plenty of airflow. Again though, this is England... the coop will spend a good 90% of the year damp and wet. Any recommendations for protection? My last coop I just used creasole and its still standing after 4 years.

As long as you can squeeze back there to do stuff that should suffice, keep the area weed free so that air moves... I do understand not wanting to waste yard space when you have a smaller yard...

As a past home remodeler I saw my fair share of rotten siding and destroyed foundation structures due poor air circulation around the building and the inability to access the area and do repairs and/or painting.. Dense bushes and hedges against a building (as common as they are) were the worst culprits at trapping air and promoting mold, mildew and rot... That few extra inches of space you leave to access the area is worth every penny down the road...

I have no recommendations for your area as I have never had to deal with a climate like that, best to ask people in the area what works...
