One of our younger Roos picked a fight, and got his feathered butt kicked soundly. The older Roo got ahold of his comb and ripped it half off at the scalp.
Problem is it now hangs down and covers one eye, leaving him with a blind side to be attacked from, and also he is shaking his head around like he’s got the dain bramage trying to get the comb off his eye so he can see.
Can a Roo’s comb be cut off or trimmed up without doing too much damage? Other than to his pride?
Will try to get pictures this weekend, he’s healed up but we had to isolate him due to the head shaking throwing him off balance trying to look out for bullies.

Kinda depends on the style of comb I should think. Hopefully some of the Game people will weigh in as I know Gamecocks at one point, and maybe still do for exhibition, had their combs (and wattles,) "dubbed" or removed since they can, as your rooster found out, be a handicap in battle.

Games are still dubbed for a variety of reasons, like frostbite prevention, & to avoid hen pecking. It is a requirement in poultry shows for gamefowl to be dubbed.

I can probably help you with your bird if you share pictures?
