I have lost most of my fancy pigeon flock to a predator.

Over 7 days a mongoose kept getting into the coop and killing birds.

Each time I thought I had secured the coop. This thing managed to find a small gap, or chew through the wire, and even get in through the roof.

It took very expensive birds, and also, sadly, hens brooding squabs.

From my flock of 20 bird I only had 9 left. I moved them into wire cages in my back yard for safety.

But things got worse as they now are dyeing off for no apparent reason.

The are fat, healthy and active, cooing and dancing, eating etc. Then one day one will be lethargic.. almost like its stunned. No disease symptoms at all. They will just stand motionless and not eat or drink.. they can not fly.. they don't even try to. They don't move, even if I gently push them. Then within a few hours they are dead!

What can be causing this? I now only have 5 birds left.. and 2 of them are now showing these symptoms.. so they are going to be dead in the morning.

This entire thing is almost too much for me. I lost some much love pets and hand raised birds that I was very attached to.

It is a bitter pill to swallow! I suffered a lost as well. I went from over 40 birds down to 4. Nothing a person can say or do can make it any better. I had my coop secure after 2 separate attacks so my predator could not get in. Then I left the door WIDE OPEN one evening and that spark of genius brought me down to 4 birds.

Once you stop beating yourself up about things you maybe able to move on.
I wish I could help you with what is effecting your flock now.
Sadly I have no advice to give buddy.

I hope you can stay positive and are able to move on. It is tough!!!

My heart goes out to you.
