I have a peahen that was acting a little slow today so I picked her up and she seemed a little lighter than usual and did not put up any fight. I looked her over for mites and there were none so I want to try deworming her, there has been some interesting looking poop in their pen recently so I think that might be it. I took her inside and weighed her she is 5.9 pounds which is like 0.6 pounds lighter than she was last time I weighed. I have a bottle of safeguard goat dewormer https://www.amazon.com/Merck-Safeguard-Goat-Dewormer-125ml/dp/B000HHLVB8
What is the dosage for her? @casportpony
I'm in southern wisconsin but the weather has been decent this week so I do not think that's the problem. I'm going to be keeping her inside until she is doing better though.

My general rule of thumb is three ml per adult cock, two ml per adult hen, and one ml for a yearling. Safeguard (fenbendazole) is safe at higher amounts so there is not much risk of overdosing but if you want to figure the exact dosage here is the recommended dosing from my vet manual.

Do you no longer do the 5-day treatment?

De-worming can be tricky. Some worms, like large roundworms and cecal worms, can be treated with a single, while others, like capillary worms and gapeworms, need to 5 days treatment.

Yes, but the question is for roundworms, I only have roundworms and cecal worms here so I treat for three days to assure I get them all via dosing in a wet mash. If you want to get all types of worms I would use Valbazen for five days then re-treat in ten days for another five days. So, I do three days skip ten days and then dose for another three days. Thanks for the pic! I haven't figured out how to block out the name on mine.
