Oh please let me know what the necropsy results are. I am so sorry this happened to you.
My hen died 2 weeks ago. She had diarrhea and was lethargic and walking around slowly for 2-3 weeks. Finally one day I found her huddled under the stairs going into the coop. I brought her in and held her for a couple of hours and all she wanted to do was close her eyes and stay still in my lap. I tried giving antibiotics but she was too far gone. She died the next day in a small pen I brought inside the house so I could keep her with me. She was only 2. I went to a seminar with a Dr Bruce from Bellevue at the Edgewood grange and discovered much info I never knew. NO MORE throwing long strands of grass into their pen. They gobble all of it up and they can get blocked crops! It's different when they go outside and pick at it in small pieces. NO MORE corn scratch either! I'll stay with layer pellets with Omega's in it and Alfalfa as a treat as well as non toxic table scraps. I guess potatoe peel is definately NOT GOOD for them. So I've never given them any. They love cabbage and zuccinni
