I have read some of the past postings regarding Diatomaceous aka DE.
I know that it is food grade can be taken internally when mixed but can it be used in compost? My sister wants to use the DE to dust the coop and would also like to use the coop litter for her compost. I guess the question is...is it okay for compost that you would use for your veggies?

I would assume that it would since it is considered "natural" and is food grade that it would be okay but I told her I would consult the experts here at BYC.

It wouldn't be a problem-the only theing is DE doesn't work if it gets wet. If your compost is moist, it will render the DE ineffective.
